Chef Andrea Beaman: Vibrant Approach to Cooking and Eating

It was illness and loss that first inspired Andrea Beaman, one of our presenters at this year’s Roots conference, to explore a new route to eating and living. It was after she witnessed her mother pass away from cancer after first enduring painful medical procedures for cancer that Andrea first began thinking about food and nutrition in a different light.

She was then diagnosed with thyroid disease at the age of twenty-eight. Her doctor suggested she undergo radiation therapy that would destroy her thyroid and was sure to ravage her body. This was the moment she had an epiphany.

Chef Andrea, a contestant on the very first season of Top Chef in 2006 and a world-renowned holistic nutritionist and natural foods nutritionist, started exploring the myriad ways in which food can not only sustain us but heal us from the inside out.  She was determined to forge a new, healthier path for herself and twenty years later, she is living testament to the power of food to heal whatever ails us. She began to examine food not only as a way to sustain her body but as one of the most powerful ways in which we have to not only heal ourselves but to prevent illness all-together.

Her intensive studies and inspiring discoveries galvanized Andrea to completely transform her diet. These new eating habits, the rejection of fast food, and a dedicated exercise regime completely healed her thyroid disease and gave her a new claim on a brighter, healthier, more vibrant life.

Andrea, the author of The Whole Truth and The Whole Truth Eating and Recipe Guide, is one of the most well respected holistic health speakers in the nation. In addition to hosting her award-nominated cooking show Fed Up!, she has been featured on Top Chef, The View, CBS news, Fox News, Emeril Live and Martha Stewart’s Whole Living radio.

Through her presentations, books, and natural health classes she has inspired countless people to transform their health and mindset by “disease-proofing” their bodies and rethinking their relationship to food in order to optimize health and supercharge their energy levels.

We are so pleased that Andrea will be participating in our “Heal Yourself: Food As Medicine“ panel at Roots: Innovate 2017, in which presenters will examine what many cultures throughout the world have known for centuries; food is not only sustenance, it is also nature’s medicine cabinet.  At The Chef’s Garden, we live and breathe this philosophy through the vegetables we grow on our farm. For us, they are not only healthy and flavorful recipe ingredients. We see our fields are medicine cabinets that contain the most powerful devices we have to not only heal ourselves but to precent disease from happening in the first place.

We invite you to attend our Roots Conference to meet Andrea and hear her inspiring messsage. We guarantee that she will motivate you to begin looking at the food you eat in an entirely new light, one that has more clarity, vibrancy, and life.
