As founder of Policy in Focus, Michael supports documentary filmmakers with outreach and engagement strategies that connect films with interested audiences while maximizing polich impact. Previous clients include Moonlight Sonata: Deafness in Three Movements, Inventing Tomorrow, Tre Mason Dasan, Cooked: Survival by Zipcode, On the Divide and others. Michael is additionally a strategist, connector and advocate with over 25 years’ experience working on cultural policy issues. He co-founded the Future of Music Coalition and Music Policy Forum, two leading nonprofit organizations seeking to build stronger, more resilient and more equitable music ecosystems. Other clients have included the National Endowment for the Arts, International Documentary Association, NPR, Colorado Creative Industries, South Arts, Native Public Media, the City of Albuquerque and others. Michael lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife Kelly where they navigate the empty nest through family group chats with their three adult children and lots of walks with their rescue hound dog, Moose.
